MCA-2008 {Banaras Hindu University} Forms are out.

Important Dates


(i) Exam Date ==>> 21 May, 2008
(ii) Commencement date of sale of application forms from the counter and by post ==>> 25.02.2008
(ii) Last date for receipt of requisition for sending the application forms by registered post ==>> 10.03.2008
(iii) Last date for sale of application forms from the office counter ==>> 24.03.2008
(iv) Last date for receipt of duly completed application forms both by hand and by post ==>> 25.03.2008


Eligibility

Bachelor’s Degree under at least 10+2+3 pattern in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate, (including all subjects studied at Bachelor's level except those subjects where only pass marks are required and which do not contribute to the total in the final (degree) marksheet.) with Mathematics as one of the subjects at either Intermediate or +2 (10+2) or equivalent examination, or, Bachelor’s level (as a main or a subsidiary subject).


Exam Pattern

There shall be one paper of 150 minutes duration carrying 450 marks containing 150 multiple-choice questions on Mathematical Aptitude (about 100 questions), and Analytical and Logical Reasoning (about 50 questions). Their is a provision of negative marking also. One mark will be deducated for each incorrect answer, 3 marks will be awarded for each correct answer and 0 mark will be awarded if no response has been marked.


Syllabus

Mathematical Aptitude Test Areas (+2 Level): Logarithms, Inequalities, Matrices and Determinants, Progressions, Binomial Expansion, Permutation and Combination, Equations (upto degree 2), Function and Relation, Complex Arithmetic, 2-D Coordinate Geometry, Basics of Calculus, Basic Concepts of Probability.
Analytical and Logical Reasoning: Questions will be mainly for checking logical conclusion, graphical/data interpretation, etc.


Test Centres

The Test will be held at the following Centres, provided there is sufficient number of candidates for the concerned Centre:
Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai.

No. of seats ==>> 30+20*
*To run at RGSC, Barkachha, Mirzapur under paid seat fee structure Rs.50,000/- per annum in addition to regular BHU fee.


Information Bulletin Plus Application Form

INFORMATION BULLETIN PLUS APPLICATION FORM can be obtained from the ENTRANCE TEST CELL, OFFICE OF THE CONTROLLER OF EXAMINATIONS, BHU, VARANASI. 221 005, either on cash payment of Rs. 50/- (Fifty) only, from 11.00 AM to 3.00 PM on working days OR by registered post by sending a written request mentioning name of the course i.e. Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Special Courses of Study (Diploma and Certificate), postal address along with : (i) A crossed MICR Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque issued by any Nationalized/Scheduled Bank for Rs. 100/- (One Hundred) only in favour of the CONTROLLER OF EXAMINATIONS, BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY, payable at Varanasi, indicating name of candidate and course name on its reverse (ii) A self-addressed unstamped envelope of the size 32cm x 26cm. The UET/PET/Special Courses of Study (Diploma & Certificate) Information Bulletin Plus Application Form will also be available on cash payment at Rajiv Gandhi South Campus Barkachha, Mirzapur, and some other designated offices of the University.

Note:
(1) Test Fee shall be charged as per details in the Information Bulletin.
(2) Only MICR Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque is acceptable.
(3) Foreign nationals are exempted from appearing in Entrance Test and are required to contact the International Centre, C/3/3, Tagore House, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, 221 005 for further details.
(4) Candidates may visit official website (http://www.bhu.ac.in/) for further details.
(5) Application Form- incomplete/received after the last date, shall not be accepted.
(6) University shall not be responsible for any delay/loss of application form in postal transit/courier.



Test Fee

The Candidate shall pay the Entrance Test Fee along with the Application Form the amount mentioned hereunder:

General ==>> Rs. 500
SC/ST ==>> Rs. 200

The Entrance Fee shall be paid by a candidate through a crossed MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) Demand Draft/Banker’s Cheque issued by any Nationalised/Scheduled Bank, in favour of the “Controller of Examinations, Banaras Hindu University” payable at Varanasi. Candidates to note that only MICR Demand Draft/Banker’s Cheque (issued by a Bank) shall be accepted.

Things To Remember

(i) The applicant is advised to write his/her (a) Name, (b) Name of the Course, (c) Course code number and (d) Application Form number on the reverse of the MICR Demand Draft/Banker’s Cheque.
(ii) SC/ST candidate must enclose a self attested photocopy of the Caste Certificate along with Application Form and claim the category on the first page of the Application Form in order to avail of the Test Fee at concessional rate.
(iii) The Application Form once submitted with the Test Fee at concessional rate meant for SC/ST candidate shall in no case be considered under General Category even if the candidate offers to pay the difference later on.
(iv) The Entrance Test Fee paid shall neither be refunded nor transferred to another course and shall also not be reserved for any subsequent year, in any case.
(v) The applicant is advised to ensure that the MICR Demand Draft/Banker’s Cheque is of the required amount and fulfills the following requirements:

In favour of: “Controller of Examinations, Banaras Hindu University”, payable at Varanasi.

It clearly mentions: (a) Date of issue (b) Name & Code No. of issuing branch (c) Name & Code Number of drawee branch (d) Signature of the authorised person along with specimen signature number (e) Amount in words and figures

(a) Applicant’s name, (b) Name of the Course, (c) Course code number and (d) Application Form number on the reverse of the MICR Demand Draft/Banker’s Cheque (form number is given on the top of Application Form).


IMPORTANT: If the MICR Demand Draft/Banker’s Cheque (issued by a Bank) is incomplete/incorrectly drawn or is a non-MICR, the candidate will be disqualified unless he/she resubmits the corrected MICR Demand Draft/Banker’s Cheque along with late fee of Rs. 150/-.
